Alliance Research 101: What’s in the Tree

How Alliance Research differs from your personal Research Lab, every node in the Development and War ladders, and why timed, consistent donations beat random ones.

What Alliance Research is#

Alliance Research is a shared tech tree that the whole alliance funds together. It lives under a different tab than your personal Research Lab, and it works differently:

Personal Research LabAlliance Research
Who paysYouEvery member, through donations
How you payOne-time resource cost per levelDaily donations
Who benefitsOnly your accountThe whole alliance at once
What you getYour own stat buffsFree, permanent stat buffs for everyone

When you open it, you’ll see a running “Today’s Tech Donation” counter tracking what’s been donated that day.

The tree is split into two full ladders: Development and War. Each is built as a ladder of nodes you climb one tier at a time — a tier has to be completed before the next one opens. Both trees are important; they just pay off at different times.

The Development ladder#

Development is about growth: building, gathering, research, and crafting. In order from top to bottom:

  1. Auto Rally
  2. Fast Build, Enhance Help, Gathering Speedup
  3. Grain Output, Timber Output, Herb Output
  4. Research Speedup, Research Upgrade
  5. Grain Protection, Timber Protection, Herb Protection
  6. Crafting Speedup, Crafting Technique
  7. Construction Cost

It’s a long ladder, but every node compounds. Faster building means you reach higher levels sooner; higher output means more resources to spend; faster research means your personal tech grows faster; protection keeps more of those resources safe from raids; and the final node makes construction cheaper. Faster building, faster gathering, faster research, and cheaper construction all stack on top of each other.

The War ladder#

War is about combat strength: troops, marches, rallies, and garrisons. In order from top to bottom:

  1. Troop Load
  2. Fast Training, Coordinated Training, Garrison Speedup
  3. March Aid, Quick Garrison
  4. Troop March
  5. Rally HP, Rally Attack, Rally Defense
  6. Heal Aid
  7. Garrison HP, Garrison Attack, Garrison Defense
  8. Barracks Expansion

The ladder splits into two directions after the early nodes: one side builds toward rally stats (stronger alliance attacks), the other toward Heal Aid, garrison stats, and Barracks Expansion (stronger defense and more troop capacity). Stronger troops, stronger rallies, and stronger garrisons make the difference when soldiers are actually fighting.

Turn on Auto-Research#

At the bottom of the Alliance Research screen is an Auto-Research Alliance Tech toggle. This is the easiest win most members miss.

  • With it off, donated points can sit idle until an officer manually taps the next node.
  • With it on, your donated points keep climbing the ladder automatically.

Why timing beats spreading thin#

Because every node is shared and compounding, when the alliance donates matters as much as how much:

  • Donate consistently. Daily donations keep the ladder moving; skipping days stalls nodes everyone benefits from.
  • Nudge members before key events. If an event rewards a specific stat — rally strength before a war, for example — getting that node finished first pays off immediately.
  • Donate with purpose. A full alliance donating on purpose beats a full alliance donating at random, and the difference shows up in every fight.

Quick checklist#

  • Find Alliance Research under its own tab, separate from your Research Lab.
  • Donate every day — watch the “Today’s Tech Donation” counter.
  • Switch on the Auto-Research Alliance Tech toggle.
  • Follow leadership calls on which node to push before events.
